Who did?
Who did?
Teamsters voted for Trump.
Not all of them. An unfortunately large number of Teamster members have become pro-Trump, so their leadership tried to play both sides, but they've all found out what we knew. That this regime undercuts the DOL so badly, it doesn't even matter if dear leader likes you, any Labor matter is DOA.
But try to respect the facts that: Clinton signed NAFTA, one of the most anti-Labor agreements ever They've had several years of Democrats demonizing their behavior (I'm not defending it, just stating facts) And the Obama Admin tried to fix Multienployer Pensions by reducing benefits of workers
Clinton -> NAFTA =🤮
I voted for Carter when I was 19 and became a Teamster when I was 20. I’ve never voted for a Republican for any office. Here in Washington we haven’t had a Republican governor for 40 years 😐
Now, I'll be the first to say the Biden admin took the only real, and necessary, steps to stabilize and save Multiemployer Pensions in the American Rescue Plan, but like everything else they did that benefited Blue Collar America they did little to no promotion of that fact.
So maybe don't denigrate the 1.3 million active Teamsters across America that are moving our goods and groceries across the country on Labor Day Weekend because you need to see the world in 4th grade hero vs villain terms, and you want an entire Labor group to be a monolith.
It's called politics, though. NAFTA was happening w/ or w/o Clinton (next Repub admin). I'm all pro union, but you guys overlook this fact. So he took a deal in exchange that also helped unions, and also put into motion new clean energy jobs - look it up.
Fair enough. I was in high school at the time, so I'll say you're right. Here's the thing. This highlights a reason why Dems keep losing Labor. Not because anything you said was wrong. But because if there isn't an easier way to explain it than "look it up," then the oppo defines the convo 1st.
Whatever those protections were should have been better sold to the people in Labor. Same with the multiemployer pension loans as a part of the American Rescue Plan. Biden and the Dems SAVED the Teamsters' Pensions (not hyperbole), and then the leadership still felt they had to play both sides.
Instead of the Dems and Teamsters' leaders saying over and over, "Hey, we finally fixed the mess Reagan made, and you'll all have the retirement you earned. And not a single Republican voted for it," they just continued to blast new messages every week like, "Do you not hate us, yet? Democracy?"
It's the platform... it's easier to say, have AI or google explain, than for me to try and type 5 or 6 separate messages in here. Corporate greed and the false notion of "rugged individualism" is the reason labor, and unions have declined. Dems did some things to help or push back against what...
Republicans ultimate goals and desires are. It's never enough, and may never be. And we need to get corporate democrats out of office.
Translated take it to the liberals and overt racism.
They never fixed Reaganomics.
Which behavior?
