From a guy who used to work there: Rachel is a remarkable person and the best TV news talent there is. If she says something is fucked up, it is. Getting rid of Joy, who dared to see through this fascism bullshit years ago and had the gall of occasionally being funny about it, is dumb.
The people they let go of, including Katie Phang, are thoughtful and kind people, the rare actual human beings who work on the talent side of television. They did not let the wider Game of Thrones network drama erode their soul. They will all be better off for it in a few months, but it does suck.
Katie P is a personal favorite. We all have them. Not sure what leaving a show as host but staying as a consultant would be like. Seems awful.

Sometimes a group / team of employees finds itself with a new, terrible boss, and hopes that said boss will eventually move on. In my case, he eventually DID move on, but not before dragging half the place to HR on bogus charges. His stint saw more retirements / resignations than any other boss.

A lot of people don’t have the luxury of leaving a job just because it’s awful. In the U.S., if you have a family to feed and the job market is rough, quitting isn’t always an option. And for people in low-income communities or developing countries (a good portion if all people), it’s way harder.

Joy is great. One of the few hosts that is not afraid to meet them on their own turf. Smart, entertaining and with a bit of necessary sarcasm in this distorted media environment. I, for one will miss her and will follow her in her next endeavor.

If Joy Reid was making her numbers, believe me she'd still be there. Nobody was watching. That goes for any left or right news show. RATINGS ARE EVERYTHING.

I didn't agree with everything she said that being Joy which why I didn't always watch her show. But she was always fair and balanced and was able to have a laugh.

Rachel has always been my favorite. I love her podcasts and books as well. But her coming back to 5 days a week thrilled me! And watching her declaration of support for Joy was remarkable and next level to witness. Thank you for being non-wavering in your convictions.

With all due respect Jen Psaki is not a good or engaging host - she should politely decline the offer for the prime time spot (at least LOOK like she opposes the purge) as not many will watch anyway - but maybe that’s what the suits want ….
I agree. I liked her when she was Biden’s Press Secretary, but as an MSNBC host, I don’t feel she is authentic, trustworthy or engaging.

I also liked her as Press Secretary but was super disappointed in her disloyalty when he came under fire for having a cold during the debate while’s Trumps lies went mostly unreported and unquestioned

I don’t have an opinion one way or another about the new hosts. I’ve stopped watching all but local news since the election. Rachel’s show is the highest rated if I’m not mistaken and she’s very influential, much more so than all the other hosts.
I find her very sing-songy. She doesn’t speak with confidence or strength. She might have did ok as a press sec, but to captivate an audience, she is not it.
I'm still having a hard time remembering how badly Jen Psaki treated Joe Biden in the end ... the very person who elevated her to the Press Secretary position. That was just bad form. I can't get over that, and honestly I'll never watch her.
