This is going to sound dumb, but sports is maybe supposed to be consumed this way? Porno sax gave way to Sports Shouting and in retrospect the former was clearly keeping the fabric of society together.

I want sports coverage from people who like and enjoy sports. For all its flaws, old school ESPN was made by people who loved sports It's part of why I like sports here, I follow people who genuinely like their sports and it is 100x more enjoyable than whatever outrage-bait ESPN is putting out now

I'll throw in another recommendation for Defector. It's a majority of the old Deadspin crew when they were good and they are a great combination of people that love sports but aren't too bogged down in X's and O's. They also don't take sports too seriously so they highlight the crazy moments too.
