I think it is feasible to add "using a machine to impersonate a human being" to the legal code. It could be a misdemeanor fraud charge that carries a minor fine that would add up for people running bot networks or political influence operations. We have laws for copyright, if we just enforce them.

Perhaps. When first learning about blockchain "crypto" tech I did picture chains of trust making things verifiable. But the main use seems to be bribes, money laundering and avoiding regulations that prevent ponzi schemes and market manipulation.
