I've actually written a lot on how we should cut SEND spending - it's the one thing I'm not a trad on, I think the last government's approach of expensive, largely segregated education and EHCPs has been a disaster!

I've read some of it! We also wrote a report on it yesterday, in which Hunt did a foreword where he also called for the need for a rethink. Lots on EHCP reform you may agree with (including more children in mainstream schools).

I need to finish reading it - my inner desiccated Treasury mandarin basically doesn't really believe that reform saves money over a five year horizon, and indeed I think part of why welfare reform has consistently failed to do is that the savings agenda has been allowed to whomp the reform one.
