All of them...
It shouldn’t matter who believes in what! None of them belong in government or in schools!
They mean the first 2, ok 3 maybe
Yes I understand they would prefer their theological view but then the others would file suit for discrimination!
Their real goal is vouchers where they take public $ for their own religious schools that will not accept non-Christian’s and will have no oversight over their finances or education quality
I know and they can discriminate! Wouldn’t it be easier to allow the people who want private schools to have a tax exception on their property taxes? That way they aren’t paying for public schools!
I see your point, but that is still using public $ to subsidize private religious entities. It’s a more indirect than vouchers. Public education needs to be funded by citizens at large—not just families that send their kids to public school There is no “public” right to a private education
Vouchers are not sustainable it takes more money out than the people pay in!
Since I have no children and my school taxes are as high as my property taxes I’m not complaining because it’s worth it to have an educated society! Most people would keep their children in public schools! So the money would be just a little less from the people who don’t want to pay!
Yes, I hate paying property taxes, but you are right about an educated society. Our school quality varies by the affluence the school taxing district. The state should fund schools on a per student basis via income tax—not property.
You mean as part of your income like SS and Medicare A school deduction on income! But you still would have the problem of people who pay for private schools plus public schools! They are paying twice!
Because they choose to! Should we reimburse country club members for choosing not to golf on public courses?
I understand you think it’s because they choose to pay for the private schools! Our state government is taking our school tax money and giving them school vouchers right now for those private schools! The amounts being taken out of the public schools is literally draining our schools resources!
Private CCs are a lot like Ind Christian School. Legal social discrimination v legal religious discrimination. These schools require a profession of faith for admission. A Jew or Muslim (or agnostic) with a voucher will be turned away Catholic schools don’t do this I don’t think, BTW
No, I was suggesting that education be moved within the state income tax. Tax rates would go up, property taxes would go down substantially Non property owners who do not now help fund schools would now participate. The state would fund school districts equally on a per pupil basis
My state doesn’t have state income taxes!
Those who don’t own property use schools, but don’t pay for them. Lu, you & I might be on the verge of solving this entire issue. 🤔
Exactly the purpose of public schools is to provide and education to all our citizens! You don’t want dumb citizens!
Those who don’t own property don’t pay school taxes! Those who don’t have children but own property do pay school taxes! We offset them!
Presbyterian here. There is the Evangelical Presbyterian church and then there is the traditional Presbyterian church. The traditional church is organizing its pastors to preach against the cult of Trump from the pulpit. You can probably guess where the Evangelical Presbyterian church stands.
I have always liked the Presbyterians! Any contact I have had with them has been positive and I find they adhere to Jesus’s teachings not the radical Evangelical teachings! You maybe able to save them with your knowledge!
