I hated the book, but I have thing about literature that ends with the woman holding the bag for men's weakness and/or villainy.

Very good point. I must revisit it because I certainly understand and agree with that viewpoint. Perhaps to view it as a pattern as old as time, and still quite prevalent, to be rectified.
