That's abhorrent on so many levels! Firstly a hospital should not be in any form an organisation that interacts with law enforcement or immigration short of committing a crime while on hospital grounds or arrested and brought to hospital. In all other cases police can wait until discharged...

... An individuals health is far more important than immigration matters. Doctors are not law enforcement and their priority is to patients not government, nor police and nor courts. It sets a precedent where unwell people who are undocumented may avoid necessary treatment.
