The opening I’m hiring for had 200 applicants within 5 days. About 80% qualified and many were recently laid off.

There are roughly 150 million non farm civilian jobs in the US So it is possible indeed likely for an entire industry or state to be doing poorly while the overall economy is doing well this is basic stuff

sure I live in Boston area and there are boatloads of people from Harvard, Broad, biotech, where funding has dried up
