Many of our coalition members said most people they spoke to were attending their very first protest. Was it your first protest today? Protests across the country remained peaceful and powerful.

We get emotional sometimes 🥲 but we’re just so incredibly proud of all of you. Tears of joy. So proud 🥹!
Chaska, Minnesota (Population of 27,000): youtu.be/bpiKfhyntbk
8.5% of our population came out. That's a lot.
Amazing!! And so heartening! ✊
Tim said "Let me protect you" And you said "We protect ourselves now"
Hugs to you and the coalition
Thank you for what you do. You keep us going. You keep us sane. You keep us focused. Although anonymous, your work will not be forgotten
Today was my first of however many it will take. Stay the course! Your collective is an inspiration. Love, Chicago.
I was overwhelmed by the turnout in Chicago. I became quite emotional.
I never cried this much happy until the protests. It's removed wrinkles. Win-win-win!
You are not alone! We do that too <3
Will be interesting when the history books are written about this time.
If there are any…
Ha!
Love you too. Thanks for being here. I depend on you to reveal the truth. And you do.
I started crying when I saw your last 2 posts 💙 🥲 Thank you!!🫶🏼
I was stunned at the number of people who came out today. I’m in a small coastal city and the main road was packed in both sides. At least 4 x as many as in April. Probably more
Honored to join my fellow Americans today! We the People United will never be defeated!
well we are just as proud of you! don’t think that what you guys do isn’t as important! thank you!!! 💙🇺🇸
We drove and took pictures through Kirkland, Bothell, and Kenmore, WA where we saw so many enthusiastically protesting! We cheered them on and they loved it. I was caught off guard by deep emotion and tears to my eyes. It was so moving!
the cars passing and our crowd responding in Raleigh were LOUD.
I'm crying them, too! I'm so proud of EVERYONE who came out yesterday! I was unable to protest, but I was able to attend a rally/carnival last night.
🥰
It wasn't my first but it was for my spouse. He told me seeing all those people made him feel so much better. It's important to know you're not alone! I've noticed a lot more Twitter style alt right BS on bluesky so today was a timely reminder that irl connection is crucial if we're gonna persevere.
Yes.. my first protest.. I’m 69… all ages at protest in St Joe MO.. many many older than myself.. it was a great turn out for such a red state!!!
🥰🙏🏻
I will be proud to tell these stories to our future!!
I’m 66 years old and today was my first protest ever. Being part of this truly organic event gave me more hope than I’ve had since November. If someone told me I’m required to do this every weekend until he’s gone, I’d be so much more than fine with it! This is me in Albuquerque!
Hello from Carlsbad!
Way to go!!! It’s contagious.
Most major cities have weekly protest. Find a group and join their email and zoom meetings. Help keep you up to date locally with the protest.
Already done, despite Albuquerque's questionable status as "a major city"! 😂
I brought my 73-yo father out to his first since the anti-Nam protest he went to while he was in college.
That’s is excellent! 🤩
Oh yeah. He asked me like 3 times before we left to let him know when the next one is, and where can he sign up.
I'm an old anti Vietnam protestor. There's lots of us showing up, thank your dad for joining us again and see him next time!
Thank you for protesting on both occasions. We need people like you
A sibling who has never protested and couldn't quite get herself to do so yesterday is now regretting that. So let's keep the snowball growing.
Will see them at the next one!
Today was my first protest! It was great. Very peaceful with a few MAGa moments (it was hard for them to share the spotlight) and for a small red town we had almost 500 people turn out.
Welcome! Basically we throw dance parties with flags and fun signs. 🇺🇸
It’s hard to see but we even got a fly over from 2 planes and both had “no kings” under the wings.
That’s awesome!
Genius!!
This sign is epic.
Thank you but I can’t take credit. I agonized over what to put and my bestie suggested this. 😉
Props to your bestie and thanks for sharing it!
Nope. Not even close. 💙
My husband, the virgin.
This is a hilarious statement. No notes.
It was supposed to be funny.
No, it was my 4th this year. During the 1st Trump administration I went to at least 6 in DC including the Women’s March, the Science March, the March for our Lives, and the protest urging that he be convicted in his 2nd impeachment. My 1st protest ever was the 1st Earth Day (senior in high school).
First protest today and will be out again for the next one and all others until this 🤡 is out of office.
Been protesting since Jan 17! I went to downtown Los Angeles, CA! What a day! Lots of young people! A good day.
Not my first rodeo. But we had double our attendance from our last protest (600), which have steadily grown from 200 in January to 1200. This in a purple county with only 65k population.
My parents, ages 80 and 75, attended their first protest today!
No
No, it wasn’t my first protest. Unfortunately we boomers are having to repeat ourselves…
Yes
My first today. I have anxiety in crowds. But everyone was so nice, it felt more like we were in it together with shared purpose. I’m proud to have been counted!
Not my first. My first protest was at age 17 on the campus of Kent State University on May 4th, 1970 where I witnessed four students shot dead by the National Guard.
No. But, one of very few since the late 60s, early 70s
No, I’ve been to at least 10 events.
First time for the 4 of us that went! Small foothills town in CA, 2k people showed up.
At age 66 it was my first protest. Olympia, WA put on a peaceful gathering.
It was my first protest as well. Won't be my last.
My first protest, won't be my last. Thanks for what you guys are going behind the scenes. Proud of my little town, Watsonville, California
It was my first protest in Youngstown, Ohio and many were saying it was their first. An older lady said the last one was small and older people only. I thought she was going to cry happy tears. It was empowering and many of us said it won’t be our last.
soundcloud.com/haziedayz-22...
My first was iraq
My first protest was - I can’t remember - but I’m delighted to welcome new dissenters
Yesterday was my first ever protest in 64 years. It was so much more than I imagined. Renewed hope and energy to continue the fight. Food for the soul~
1st one. I’m 53. Even the introverts came out for this one. Will not be the last. 10,000 people in Geneva, IL.
Holy smokes!!! I used to live in Aurora. I can’t believe there were 10,000 people in Geneva!
It was my 4th so far this year. Went to one in 2018 regarding the children being held in cages, also under fat Nixon’s term.
My mom went with me, age 64, it was her first protest. She did great!
It was my first time attending a protest! Had a really great time.
Yep! My first—suburban. Chicago!
Yes, very first! Loved it!
Bothell, Wa! At least 1000 people.
First protest for me and my mom in the rain in OKC. Both of us are introverts that try to avoid crowds, but seeing so many Oklahomans come together was so beautiful I teared up.
Third since inauguration 3 others prior (Vietnam, Afghanistan and Breonna Taylor) probably others. Just like concerts they start blurring lol
No but this one felt so incredibly important.
Been protesting at least once per week since March, because I can, based on my current life situation. I am happy to do it for those who have young families, or whatever their circumstances are, or have yet to be able to break out of their comfort zone.
It was my first protest. 🥳 A guy in a pickup started yelling not so nice stuff & the lady next to me said we love you to the guy - not sarcastic but in a way that said in America everyone can say what they think … freedom of speech for all! That is what our protest is about
Lost my protest virginity today!
First protest for both my husband and myself.
3 generational protest in central Fla. today. My niece, my great-niece, and me.
Oh heck no... not first protest. I was a young person protesting in the '60s and 70s. I've done every protest against Trump we've had anywhere near me.
My first one was also against the Viet Nam War. I missed the first one against trump. I'd managed to injure myself bad enough for surgery and couldn't go. But I made it to the second one.
My first protest was 2 weeks after his inauguration. And I haven’t looked back. My kids’ futures are on the line.
It was my first of this kind. I was nervous so I aimed small, choosing a smaller town close to me. I live in a red region. I cried when I saw the size of the crowd before it had even begun. By the end we had numbered over 400. Responses were majority supportive.
🙋🏽♂️
Well, it was my very first protest for a foreign country. Does that count? (I did get involved in the Vietnam protests back in the day.)
👏👏👏💙🗣️
Great sign‼️🤣😂💙
Love your hat!!
Thank you! Practicing safe 🌞 protesting!
Not my first by a longshot but the crowds were the biggest I’ve ever seen in Seattle.
First in this century. 🤣
Not first protest. Most struck by the huge diversity in the crowds, oldsters & youngsters, multi-ethnic multi-cultural, music, chants. The OBBB & ICE actions have stirred a majority together instead of driving wedges between historic minorities often played off against each other.
I agree. The protest in Richmond VA was more diverse than I’ve seen previously. A great turnout!
Same here. My first couple were Mainly seniors. This last one ran the gamut from young couples with little ones in strollers to seniors using walkers & everything in between. Very peaceful crowd, lots of honks of encouragement? Very uplifting.
Not my first but the crowds seemed HUGE in SF
4th for me. Philly turned out! Biggest best, yet!
I think my first was the Gulf War. The first one. 90s, LA.
first here.
Yes. First time and met a number of other first timers as well
We joined a group in Feb because we are both of German descent and want to be on the right side. Neither have ever protested in public in 60 yrs. Our group was 25-30 people at our 1st protest. Today was 1300 in our small city followed by a MUCH bigger protest later of at least 5k. Powerful, hopeful.
It was the first protest for four of the six people we brought with us today (all of the newbies are in their 40s and 50s, the two of us who have been protesting since 2017 are in our 60s).
1972. First time I have felt that a peaceful protest maybe targeted and shot at. I am home and angry thinking about that.
I’ve gone to marches & been protesting Republican BS for 50+ years. If the right wing could learn to live & let live, everyone’s lives would be sweeter.
It was a first for me as well!
I could not protest today but I did contribute some $ to a couple of events as a way of showing support and solidarity. #nokings
My husband and I, both over 50, attended the very peaceful No Kings! protest in (Red) Woodstock, Georgia. It was our first protest. 💙
Thank you for showing up!
Yes it was!
I watched 4 MAGA counter protesters march ahead into the crowd. I heard one young man tell the MAGA man that he had overheard him making violent statements in the parking lot saying they wanted to harm us. I stood by to make sure things would be ok and they were! The conversation remained calm.
Virgin protestor. It’s gonna get easier.
Became a US citizen in December 2024. (I know ... stupid plan.) NoKings was my first protest event! It felt so good to be among other people who support Good-ness, especially in this red area of a blue state.
Thank you and welcome!
My first protest was in 1968 and I’ve had about enough Republican crap.
Protest all that is left to us with a GOP Congress & SCOTUS in the clutches of dark money. My first physical protest, but not my first protest or need to make a show of it.
It was my 2nd (Roe V Wade destruction was my first) - it was so energizing and inspiring to see so many like-minded peaceful people!!! And in a small town in Maine no less!
I spoke to many first time protesters also. Excellent that you came out. However, this is a marathon. Next step-write/call (5calls.org) your representatives at least weekly. Attend town halls, run for office at any level, volunteer, bring more people to the next protest. Keep fighting!
My first. Ramona, California.
It was my first time at a protest. Went to the one in Livonia, Michigan. There was a good turnout. Lots of great signs, especially this one:
Nope, but so very happy to be a part of this movement! Thank you SO MUCH for all that y’all are doing. 💙💚
Experienced protesting pup and I geared up to take my sister to her first protest and to kick out the clowns
First one ever! Felt proud to represent Orlando.
2nd
My first protest was right after roe v wade was overturned. It’s a crazy time!
Today was my first protest. Great turnout and vibe. I'm glad I went. It was nice to be around like minded people and hearing all the supportive honks of those driving by.
It was my first, of this sort at least.
It wasn't my first protest, but it was my dog's first today. She loved on everyone who would let her, and fellow protestors said they were grateful for the mental health break to give her pets. Next time out I think I'll make her a sign to wear to indicate her supporting role :)
Yes! It was my first protest, and I brought my teen daughter and a friend for their first protests as well! Sacramento CA at the state capital. The crowd was the most amazing combination of passionate about their beliefs and caring about the community. It was a beautiful thing!
3rd for me. And this was by far the biggest. Let's hope #4 is even bigger!
My Boomer moderate parents, one a Vietnam vet, were all in today. They are in full rebel mode. They are quiet, peaceful, church folks. That they are angry, out there with signs: this tells me much.
This was the first I’ve successfully attended! I’ve tried before, but construction detours and anxiety got the best of me. Someone had a great sign dedicated to National Parks, too!
I’ve been to more than I can count, but we did bring someone for whom it was their first! (Not a young person, our age!)
Yes. I'm in my 60s & this was my first protest. But it sure as hell isn't my last. This shit is ADDICTIVE!
Right?!
Except for the cops in LA tonight 🤷🏻♀️
It was mine (50) and my husband’s (55) protest, but it won’t be our last!
I took 2 people to their first protest today. It was a wonderful "No Kings Day." We ate tacos afterward for the TACO (trump always chickens out) man. 😊
The young woman next door slipped this note under my door. We did meet up at the protest
That’s amazing! And one person becomes two, and Ariel will inspire someone else and then there’s three!!
Beautiful❤️
I always meet the nicest and coolest people at protests 😊
Second protest! I would've done a few more but I usually have work during the other times. I was off work because of a medical procedure I had done earlier in the week and still couldn't go back to work, so I showed up again!
Is the coalition in the room with us now?
In 2028 they’re gonna take all the credit for the work of real activists I predict
First time protester here! 👋🏼 The picture I carried with me is of my aunt, who passed recently, protesting for women’s rights.
My 75 y.o. mom attended her first protest today. She's recovering from two hip replacements, so she brought her sitting walker and rocked her sign like the absolute boss that she is!
been there, done that, like, 50+ years ago. it was a different war. today, though, in a small town in long island, ny? the singing, dancing, and solidarity in the rain, was cathartic. alleviated much of my (existential and generational) trauma.
Been to others, but the first one this year👍🏾
My first protest today…amazing. I feel the power of our voice today. ❤️🙏💪🏻
Nope! Been to a few, probably do a few more😁
🙋♀️ Very first protest today
Was my first. I tend to stay away from crowds of people, but I pushed myself to go & it felt good to be there.
My first. And I'm so glad I went ❤️💪
I think it was my 4th this year! But today seemed to draw the most people, even with light rain.
My first protest was earlier this year. What I did for the first time today was volunteer, and I am enormously pleased with myself to have identified and defused a false-flag agitator on my first day. It's not like he was super good at it. I got lucky. But damn it feels good.
It was my 10th and 11th protest today (went to 2) since Inauguration Day. Including flying to DC from CA for the April 5 protest.
First protest in 35 years!
Yes it was a first for both me and my husband.
The woman who was directly beside me said it was her first protest. She then quietly admitted to having been a Republican up until this point. She said too that she couldn't find a friend who was meant to meet her there so she hung around with my father, two mutual friends of ours and myself.
I hope that I helped make it a positive experience for her. Our oldest protestor is a kind gentleman, a veteran, of the young age of NINETY-FIVE. He's amazing, he's made every protest (taking a small respite), though he can only stand a few minutes at a time.
Kudos to him!!! 🩵🩵🩵
This is just the beginning! 👊 🇺🇸 🔥
My second. My first was in April.
Yep - my very first protest. But I suspect it won't be my last.
Hell no! I became radicalized after the Kent State murders in 1970. I was a college student then. I'm a grandmother now and still hit the streets every single week. 💪
My 87yo dad's first protest! In Folsom, CA. And will not be his last. Woot woot!
My first protest was in April. This was my second. Next one I hope will be the day we take our country back and take out the trash! General Strike only needs 3.5% of the population and it sounds like we’ve exceeded that amount this time. Let’s do it and save ourselves from this fascist regime!
Love the signs!!
It was our first protest and it was very uplifting. We live in a very rural red county and it was nice to see other people giving a shit. It helps to not feel so alone
It was my 1st & I’m not only proud of myself but everyone else that’s willing my to speak up at this very important moment. Always remember, our kids are watching & learning from us! ✌🏼
My first was on April 5 and it felt right 👍💯
Yes and it was wonderful. Small town (pop. 5,740) and the turnout was 500 people! ❌ 👑 🇺🇸 #nokings
Here too. Small town but hundreds turned out
We were standing at the busiest intersection in the town and there were so many people honking and waving and giving us thumbs up. I can count on one hand the negative feedback — so much support! 💙
Me too!! And I thought this community I live in was not as supportive but I was wrong 🥰
I'm gonna be hearing those honks in my mind for a loonnnnnng time. Sounds like hope.
My first, and I brought 2 others for their first as well!
yes - my first! and with my 13-year-old!
Not my first but so happy to see many more young people than usual (& dogs).
It was my very first protest and I’m so glad I went and got to be a part of something so important and unifying
It was my first and won't be my last!
I proudly wore my women's rights March pins from the 1980s and right up to now
If today was your first protest, I'm so proud of you. I've been to postests since 2010 but I know it's hard to start, especially with how scary things are right now. Great job, everyone.
2010 was my first straight protest with the passing of Citizens United. At that time no one paid attention. It changed our future. Now we have Billionaires buying elections.
First yes
This was my third
not anywhere near our first. we have lost count. but we will continue to show up for democracy.
Many people told me the same...every day there are more reasons to protest.
Not my first - but did meet a lot of people today who said it was theirs here in Nashville, TN.
My mom, nephew and I all attended our first protest today. It won’t be the last.
My 72 and 70 y/o parents were blue dots yesterday, surrounded by other blue dots, in a small red town in Arizona ❤️💙
attended my 1st ever protest march in the late-1970s. -am originally from Portland, OR.
First protest. Brought a friend
There was a cute retired military pastor who said it was his first protest
I have been opposing racist was since 1968. I have protested for justice since the late sixties and early seventies. I have stood for women’s rights and indigenous rights since the seventies and eighties. But each time - I have opposed policies not people
Got my whole family to go. 7 of us.
My kiddo’s very first. We were joined by her school friend and his family for their first protest.
I have gone to one before this one….years back at our Minnesota State Capitol for gun control. So sad we have made no progress with the guns!
It was my second! My first was on March 8th. I'm 53 years old.
My second. My first was Stand Up for Science.
Yes, but not the last!
It was.
bsky.app/profile/chco...
No, it wasn’t. Although I had never done anything remotely active, by the end of January 2017, I had attended the local Women’s March, a rally, and a protest. The level of solidarity and outrage was incredible at our event in Las Vegas.
My first protest was May Day 1969, at the Washington Monument, against the Vietnam War. It was peaceful.
Actually today I realized that I have been exercising my Constitutional right of freedom to assemble (protest) for over 55 years! I am old but I am not as old as Faux-king Trump!
My first time at a protest! It was so refreshing to be around likeminded people as an isolated blue dot in a red state.
Nope, I've attended many over the years, but today's was the largest I've seen and participated in!
Attended my first protest today! The number of smiling, familiar faces, and the overwhelming number of waves, car horns, and smiles gave me the jolt of energy and hope I so desperately needed. 🙌
Not our 1st, we started with the Women’s March & never stopped- 1 of the ladies I invited to join us came, the first 5 mins she was in tears. She loved it and stayed until we left. I was so happy for her. She said, “it gave her relief from all the anxiety she was feeling.” She is not alone.
My first protest, was with my mother, and I was 6!
Well for me I can’t even count anymore…protesting since 1979!
Not my first, I protested numerous times in 2016 with my late partner, who was wheelchair bound. Even got assaulted once because I took a video of a fan of 47. He tried to take my phone. He fafo'd.
Not my first, but the first for several family and friends!
Remember that section of people that did not vote for anyone? They like to get out and walk around every once in a while, as though they care. (Nonetheless, it does look hopeful, again. )
My cousin said it was her first!
I protested all through his first BS term but today I talked to several that this was either their 1st or 2nd. 1 girl went to Hands Off and felt so inspired she brought her brother to today’s I hope the 1st timers felt that power in their chest that standing up for yourself & those who can’t brings
Been awhile. At least 7 months. Proud to be an American.
Yes it was my first protest, definitely won’t be my last!
I’m 66 - it was my first protest! There were sooo many seniors out - some with walkers but they still showed up and marched.
Hell no: I was at The Boston Common for the Peace rally calking for a Vietnam Moratorium (practically an infant..ahem) & many more since then.
Yes, this was my first protest. We were in Silver Spring, MD on an overpass. Hundreds of us and hundreds more blowing horns of support from the Capital Beltway.
This was my first. I hate crowds. I hate the heat. I’m so concerned about democracy I made sure I showed up anyway. Almost 5,000 people in Columbia, MD.
Way to go Columbia!
So many people! Happy & twitchy at the same time 💙❤️🤍
Thank you. Better than you feared and or thought, right?
This was my fourth. I was glad to see people of all ages together for a common cause.
My parents first at 77 and 78! I proudly went with them 🙂 Huge turnout, in a very red town!
I have been protesting since the Viet Nam era.
Not my first day at the dance by a long shot BUT one of my friends went to their first protest yesterday! And another has now gone to three!
My first at 50. I saw a lot of 16 year olds and younger. The majority were 50 and up, but a lot of 30's as well. We were individuals across all races in a very small town all joined against this fascist dictatorship. It was freaking awesome. A few crazy guys tried to intimidate us with their bikes
Yes, the first for all 5 of our group.
It was my first protest ever! I went with my twin boys, age 30! It was their first as well. A united family! We felt so empowered!! 🩵✌️☮️
I love his sign!!
I have lost count. It was my 10th or 11th protest, one of my sons’ 9th or 10th, but it was two of my (young adult) kids’ first protest. I figured to get to 3.5%, everyone who had already gone would need to bring at least one other person.
