This isn’t a series of one-off threats, it’s a systematic escalation designed to normalize the military’s presence in American cities. Each deployment or threat builds on the last, conditioning the public to accept something that should never be routine in America.

I'm not sure what some Americans believe they're gaining by accepting troops policing our streets. Do they expect zero crime? That’s unrealistic. Good thread. But from where I’m sitting across the pond: What civilian checks? The 3 branches of govt were supposed to check each other. Instead you have a 2 party system where 1 has captured all three branches & there is no role for an opposition party, which is why it has no leader.
