Indeed. The purpose of Trump's latest depredation is further consolidation of his power. It's a proof of concept: if people accept this power grab without much complaint we can expect the occupation of other cities Trump considers 'trouble' sooner than anyone can imagine.

They are trying their best. Every year there are absolutely more and more restrictions. This year alone Colorado passed like 20 gun restrictions despite overwhelming majority of testimony against it in the state house. Name one Democrat controlled state that loosened up gun laws - there are none.

The Dems are in charge in many states that have recently restricted their own citizens’ gun rights. Washington, Colorado, Illinois, New York, etc. They use scary language like “assault weapons” and every year there’s more bans. They won’t be satisfied until the 2nd amendment is effectively abolished
