As I said to someone yesterday, Ai is regulated and censored by people, as stupid as it is, if you search online, you will have multiple answers and versions while Ai is a sanitized (and quite often) wrong too, even on things that are easily fact checkable.

My ChatGPT is set up so that it only lists sources that can be fact-checked and are reputable. It also provides me with a list of sources it referenced in its reply. ChatGPT is a useful tool, but it should not be trusted blindly.

Too many people in my office use it for stupid things that literally can be answered with a manual, it saddens me that they use it and burn the Earth instead of doing a ctrl+f on an offline pdf.

That's fair! I use it for tasks that would take me a long time to do myself, or to ask a question that's too complicated/nuanced for a quick Google search to answer every question. It's also a very handy travel planning tool. It has built me excellent, detailed itineraries in seconds.

I didn’t know you could program it that way. The lack of a source list has been my pet peeve.

You definitely can. Start a new convo and ask it to update its memory with certain parameters and to not provide information from untrustworthy sources. It answered a question for me early on that didn't pass the sniff test, but it references any and every thing if you don't give it instructions.
