We would've kissed them goodbye if the govt had shut down. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martial....

We have MORE leverage. We have courts. We can still protest without him calling it a national emergency and declaring martial law. I realize that sounds extreme but everything he's done is extreme.

yes the courts have been so helpful so far with the executive branch ignoring them and the SCOTUS being 5/4 evil. he's already declared protest illegal. doesn't seem like leverage to me

And his declaration has resulted in what? Mass arrests? That's what martial law would do. SCOTUS has mostly ruled against him. Yes, the courts take awhile but do you really want to be the break the law party? That's the gopers

He's testing the waters for mass arrests with Mahmoud Khalil and all the mass deportations, and Schumer Dems are letting it happen. I'd be happy to be the "we shot the false king in the face" party, personally. I'll work with some Democrats (Kelly, Cortez, etc) but I'm not about to identify as one

Folks in his 1st admin were working hard to keep him from doing exactly this kind of illegal activity. None of those folks are around him now. Have you ever seen an admin do what he's doing? Illegally firing necessary workers?

Yes but none of them with a convicted felon in the WH. He's been unlawfully crippling the govt one agency at a time. A shutdown would allow him to shutter most of it instantaneously. We just never had a president who was so committed to gutting this nation.

we had a shutdown during the first Trump presidency. I suppose you could argue he wasn't convicted yet
