Both of you seem softer, but still committed on “no smiling in rock n roll” and I’m here for it

Trent!!! Just blasting some NiN
Who the fuck you guys
oh hell yeah, we’re catching the show here on Friday!
Wednesday in Chi-town. ☺️
So great catching up with Trent, Atticus, Robin, Alessandro, Josh, + many other friends, colleagues, fans. A perfect night, Steph and I had a blast. I got to enjoy a NIN show purely as a fan for the first time since 1995, and they played The Perfect Drug! That never happened during my 15yrs with NIN
What’s that rad shirt you’re rocking?
Prototype from a new line of shirts I’m working on for fall!
I’m sold.
NIN has completely reinvented the presentation of their live show for this tour, It’s a bold and exciting statement with a sleek visual style and a phenomenal gristly electronic sound. Totally different and cool as hell; congrats to TR & team for taking chances and always staying vital. Go see it!
it's cool you can be a fan now and its not a job/life.
I really wish I could have gone to the Seattle show. My now ex-boss fucked me over months ago when I was in que when they went on sale, then just up and fired me for no reason at the end of June. I couldn’t afford what the scalpers were selling them for. 😭
saw them in manchester just a couple of months ago, was amazing and I am happy to see you guys hanging out together ❤️
My wife & I were at the Manchester show at the start of the tour. Amazing gig, I mean, it’s NIN, it always is. 🔥🔥
Next Saturday for me. First time since... With Teeth era maybe?
Imma gonna see them next weekend in Toronto, I cannot wait!
So, what's the rule now? In the face of 2025, a slight smile is allowed??
Dad Smirk exemption
I'm unbelievably jealous but hey I'm just a huge NIN fan. I remember hearing "The Perfect Drug" at the Hollywood Palladium and screaming at my wife "they never play this live!" Needless to say she didn't quite appreciate the significance as I did.
Saw both the Peel it Back show with the amazing visuals and different Boyz Noise alternative takes and the straight-ahead rock show they did at festivals this summer. Both awesome. Only regret was I caught them before Josh rejoined the band. Josh rules!
Saw the show in Oakland, also got to see Perfect Drug and I swear my soul left my body.
While enjoying as a fan is part of your brain still analysing the stage design and thinking about what you would have done? Or are you thankful you didn't have to deal with a Boys Noize jam session?
I mean I'm always analyzing on some level, I try to turn it off to just enjoy things as much as possible. Thankfully this NIN show was very different, it wasn't like a comparable framework so it was easier to just detach it from "how I would have done it" and have a fun experience.
I wouldn't know. Apparently those dickheads haven't played in Wales since 2014(?)! You were probably with them.
I was there! Good show, I liked Wales a lot.
Remind them of that? 😉 I'm oblivious to how much time for exploration there is on tours like that but yeah, Cardiff has a pretty good castle. Right across the road from Pizza Hut and across another road from Subway. As our ancestors would have wanted.
The random chance of having a day off in a city and if the weather is nice can really affect the impact it has when you’re zipping through places so quickly! And also whether bands like or dislike a place has no real impact on where they tour, it’s all promoters/managers juggling logistics
Yeah, considering most bands just play the same few cities in the UK I've always assumed they go through the same shit (for me) promoter here. Saying that, for some bizarre reason Will Smith is playing the castle at the end of the month. Every day the world gets harder to understand.
I will say though, the shows in places that don’t get very many big shows are always the most fun, the crowds are so enthusiastic!
The culmination of: 1. Pent up excitement spanning decades 2. An eagerness to please in a hope of a return visit 3. Excess energy because we haven't spent the prior three and a half hours on a train to Manchester (it's always fucking Manchester!)
Met Trent way back. Spoke about Bowie. He was very kind. Cool share!
I don’t think we’ve ever seen you this happy.
Robin’s first time seeing a camera.
The show is great but I found the set list SO WEIRD. Not bad by any means, but definitely not the "greatest hits" I thought it would be, more deep cuts. A show for the fans!
TBH, I think you and my pal Jon might be the only people who could get me to go to a live show again.
Oh fuck, I've been waiting decades to hear that live
It was great on Sunday - Freese knocks it out of the park.
Rob, don’t take this the wrong way, but how is Trent younger than you? 😉
🙌 Nice ! Should be a strange feeling to see them after working so long with them (him) 🙂 By pure curiosity, the VIP pass is coming blurry that way or they put sensitive information on it? 😝
Tour security was asking us to hide our passes when I was taking a pic with Robin/Josh, so I blurred the others out of consideration. Generally tour security folks are always nervous about people trying to counterfeit passes to try and get backstage.
🤯 I didn’t though about this! Thanks 🙌
Knowing NIN, that's the actual design on one side.
They played Perfect Drug when I saw them in Manchester. It was a first for me too.
Nice! First NIN song I ever heard.
Niiiice. They rarely play that at all. Also: sounds like you had a blast!
Rob, are those smiles? In rock n roll?
SMIRKS. SMIRKS!!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
i'm not gonna lie, i thought the dude on the left was markiplier for a hot minute
The 1990’s called, and they want their cool badasses back.
Remember: no smiling in rock n roll. Nothing says you can’t smirk! 😉 Thanks for sharing Rob!
HTDA reunion when?
is that that dude without a soul, and with the big fucking hole?
It was a great show.
Legends.
Damn reznor in hokas is not big rockstar energy
Sheeeeeeit, I have the exact same pair of those comfortable bastards and I’m feeling better about MYSELF, so… Will I still be wearing my Docs to the show in September tho? Fuck yes I will. ;)
To see NIN in concert has been on my bucket list for years. I’m now 64, and in poor health. If I don’t see them soon, it may never happen. 😝
Hey, it’s the pretty hat machine!
I’d say middle aged
This will sound dumb, but honestly it brings me so much joy seeing you guys hanging out 🖤
+1 to this!
Rob, all I would say is don't leave any spare cash lying around, wouldn't trust either of them if my back was turned for a nano-second.
You really out here trying to talk shit? If you're going to snipe, you gotta come with tea.
I'm Australian, we don't snipe we do irony.
I see the error of my ways
Did you the melody for head like a hole is based on a song Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo wrote for a computer animated Hawaiian Punch commercial? Look it up
me too
Boys Status: Back In Town
This made me lol
Good to see you guys hanging out!
thanks for sharing 🖤
Oh man ... my college crush!
