We have so, so many deer in Pennsylvania and could use some nonhuman predators.
Hunters hate them but wolves are not killing the same deer as what the hunters want
Sorry, I grew up & went to undergrad in Michigan but I've lived out of state for decades. If I remember correctly, when I lived there the only wolves were on Isle Royale. Have they been reintroduced to the UP?
They migrated to the mainland over the ice during winter over a decade ago
Some also migrated from Canada and Northern Wisconsin/Minnesota. Over 750 wolves in the UP currently.
Are there complaints from locals up there? I lived in Salt Lake City when wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone. There were complaints from farmers and ranchers about livestock losses. They were somewhat muted because the feds reimbursed them for their losses, though.
