That's actually not a thing happening here in Nebraska. The idea the state was suffering came from a single YouTube video where a woman asserted it, then was multiplied across multiple channels. Unlike most red states, Nebraska is a donor state. It has the lowest unemployment rate of any state.
The videos I saw were referencing farmers nit having enough immigrant workers. Farms were going bankrupt due lack of workforce
I read a few articles that NE actually has had a labor shortage and Ag industry has been concerned about losing immigrant labor force and impact of tariffs. That said the budget issue was due to miscalculated drop in Medicaid funding blowing a hole in the budget but won't bankrupt the state.
