We often point our fingers at Asian and developing countries for corruption. This is institutional CORRUPTION.
The deliberate long term propaganda against other nations, especially ones that are predominantly non christian, non caucasian etc, is a part of the corruption.
So why would anyone believe that the current resources minister is not preparing for his entry into the industry?
Resources and that fool who is Defence Minister.
Grrrrr. Don't mention that unmentionable. He needs to go as his foot is on the throat of Albanese and Wong in his pursuit of gaining favour with the USA.
Agreed. We deserve so much better than this.
'We' keep voting the duopoly in though, so perhaps 'we' are getting what we deserve.
With the rise of social media and real time reporting 'we' are learning more about the corruption of politics. Only community independents are truly representative of their electorate. Party politics is not democracy.
Not necessarily. Most of are wealthy. And I imagine they like tax breaks and privatisation. That’s certainly not representative of my electorate. Whereas the Greens believe in public services including schools.
Beng independent does not automatically make someone a good person. Unfortunately the vast majority of politicians are self serving scum. Social media might only be growing for zombies in the near future if dodgy politicians get their way.
We aren’t all doing that. Labor won on preferences. And next time those preferences are a long way from guaranteed.
The duopoly are never in doubt of winning in Australia. So 'we' as Australian voters are to blame. 'We' as individuals may, or may not be. The last prime minister I voted in was in 1992 in my 1st election.
If you're saying that you don't vote, that's a childish refusal of responsibility, not a useful protest.
I don’t think he even implied that.
I do not vote for the duopoly, I voted Paul Keating in when I was 19, then I grew up. Read, then write.
Also Keating, although I voted for him, is a big part of the neo con scam that saw workers diminished and the oligarchs grow. We all make mistakes.
I thought he was funny, but like Paul, I am sarcastic, and 'I was only 19'. I am not aware of a good Australian Prime Minister existing, some have suggested Gough Whitlam, who was in office when I was born. Australians suck at voting, then blame the elected officials.
Gough changed this country for the better and probably my life like all young women of that time. Pollies have been trying to batter it backwards ever since.
Yippee for you! Many if us choose not to give up trying to make things better.
Surprise surprise! What if our government is just an executive branch of the extractive industry?
Executive? More like HR, I reckon.
Maybe marketing? Like Scotty from marketing...
Well they do front up and try to make the executive decisions palatable with tenuous bullshit. Scotty was peak modern politician, potentially up with Trump in destructive power, and odour.
Watts next?
Their unreasonably generous "Super", actually a lavish pension, is supposed to avoid the need for this sort of thing. But I guess they can have both, and in modern day politics it's not even seen as corrupt.
Yes - and I'd like to give a shout-out to former NSW Premier Barry Unsworth, who - I believe - renounced his parliamentary pension (which is ridiculously generous, for ex-Premiers - & probably for many other pollies).
Climate criminals along with corrupt criminals taking bribes, I mean 'donations' 😠
😧
Well, no, not really. I think it was very clear that they were working for them while in office too.
Here are a few notable examples: Christopher Pyne: After serving as Minister for Defence Industry and then Minister for Defence, Pyne established a firm, Pyne and Partners, which works with defence contractors such as Elbit Systems of Australia.
Brendan Nelson: A former defence minister who subsequently took on a senior executive role with the aerospace company Boeing.
Joel Fitzgibbon: Another former defence minister who works as a lobbyist, representing companies involved in the defence industry, including French weapons manufacturer Dassault and the Spanish shipbuilder Navantia.
'Coal' Fitzgibbon, grifter
So disgusting they were never about representing us alway about their own self interest
There should be a law....
Problem is that those benefiting from this situation are also those that make the laws. They will not even bring in a decent anticorruption watchdog to ensure the lax laws we have now are followed.
I imagine that any movement on this would get immense support from the public. The rivers of gold are going mostly to players in established parties. It takes a decade or two to come to grips with the amount of money on the table. The newer groups will find busting this irresistible.
The Greens and some Independents want this addressed. The degree of hate they get from Lib, Lab and the majority media should tell us how much money is involved. Unbelievable that PwC already have their snouts back in the trough after their epic bed-shitting demonstration.
Two years ago Australia supported genocide in Gaza. Now our govt speaks against it. In the next two year a simple anti-revolver-door change dot org petition could get 50% of the voters to sign. It is imaginable, in fact inevitable.
I'm reminded of the lyrics to the Dead Kennedys song Dogbite. "Dog bite. On my leg. Not right. S'posed to beg." Public servants should be good dogs.
Unfortunately our ministers, of both parties, are self interested grifters. Can someone pledge these bludgers a $500k p.a. sinecure after they retire if they act on the #ClimateEmergency? I'd swap my roughly $1k of donations a year to this. 500 people like me could buy one minister's future.
guillotines are cheaper
Don’t forget the accounting / consulting firms that also lobby for large companies. Lotsa ministers there….
Goes way back to former Howard govt defence minister John Moore. If not even before that.
Fix the tax code Any former regulator faces a 500% tax on income (including gifts, shares) from any party that they ever regulated To apply to spouses and siblings/children too
Madeline King considering her options🤔
