There certainly may be later in the book, but this passage in particular—she later clarifies she was talking about her first maternity leave. But it was way totally out of order chronologically

Oooh yea, you’re right, some of the skipping around seemed to be to connect themes, but others felt like they were there to throw in another memorable anecdote to keep it going

The trick is that skipping around also helps her to obscure certain themes

It lets her get away with being a protagonist "bad things just happen to" despite all evidence (in the book itself!!) to the contrary. Pretty indicative of silicon valley tbh
