I always thought Redmond got a harshly bad press from some fans. Didn’t quite have enough end product, but bags of skill and I thought he offered us something a bit different.
I agree, he was a player that thrived on confidence. If he got off to a bad start in the game he just didn't get better. If he started well he was often fantastic, had the ability to turn a game when he was on it. His early habit of openly whining at Bertrand about every mistake didn't help him.
