I strongly encourage everyone involved in events/community management to review your policies and, if you don't have it yet, include standards for dealing with state/federal threats, and for protecting from immigration/citizenship-based harassment and abuse.
And I am deeply sorry that I did not see this hole in my own awareness sooner. I still have a lot of indoctrination from a conservative upbringing that springs up in weird ways, and it's going to be a lifetime of listening, learning, and searching out those weak points to overcome that.
