Barely recalled? Foundational classic.
I'm surprised I could even recall it... maybe it was repeated later. But the inspiration was definitely similar.
Though the Children of The Hum are very different to the technophobes of the Peter Dickinson trilogy.
And there it is!! Finally, someone else remembers this weirdly fabulous programme 😁👏👏
Please tell me you have read the books it was based on? We did an episode of ‘The Changes’ for a #HookWatch during Covid.
Hmm sadly no I haven't, if I'm honest I didn't realise untll now that the programme was actually based on a book!
Three deeply weird books.
I remember reading them, years later. I think I felt the first was the best, the explanations in the later volumes were less satisfying... Still, on a par with Alan Garner for portraying some very weird world alongside our own. And the pylon imagery still sticks with me.
Yep it was rhe pylons that stuck with me too, can't see one without thinking of that programme & it was a long time ago!
Well they sound right up my ginnel!! Are they adult books?
No.
Ahh ok, looks like I might have missed the boat then if they're kids books.
For me, stories are the thing Sinead. I regularly read children’s books/young adult books.
There are few better books than The Dark Is Rising.
OK! Who would you say the writing is similar to, author wise?
Good point & yes sometimes it's quite refreshing reading younger people's books ... I'll keep an eye out for it then, thanks! 😁
