I only use my google speaker for music while cooking 😅 but yeah, I've got my sitting room lamp on a remote, so i can turn it on from bed and not be going to/from the kitchen in the dark, and it's wonderful. my kitchen lights have a remote, too, so i can switch them on before i get there. so nice!!!
i mostly use it for controlling devices and checking weather, haha. wish i had cash to upgrade to a newer tv, since it doesn’t work well with that or with my old Roku. i also automate shit like lights. (auto shutoff in case my narcoleptic ass falls asleep, or turning on ceiling lights to wake me up)
also have one in my teens’ room for the same purpose, which comes with the joy of blasting earworms on their speaker at random moments just to mess with them, as is my parental right.
