it's not fair that once the hurt gets to a certain point, the drugs aren't as effective. like hey, body, we no longer need the symphonic chorus of pain! but the chorus is already too loud to hear. :(

Especially when your body turns it up to 11. Ever heard of CNS sensitization syndrome?
but related: i noticed my occipital neuralgia was active about an hour ago and took some naproxen, which usually helps reduce whatever is irritating the nerve. but it was too late, the dang pain just got worse. stabby-stabby in my eyeball. I'm trying to hope that it's a short attack, at least.
FWIW, occipital neuralgia iirc is one of the few disorders that rank as bad as or worse than CNS sensitization syndrome. Gentlest of hugs.
I didn't know that! I just know it can be excruciating, and mainly it's better than migraine because at least I'm not suffering nausea and auras, too.
That's the point where I chew up some morphine and hold it under my tongue, or crush it and mix it into a drink which I then consume. (Post surgical leftovers. Enough that I can use it occasionally.) I hope things improve quickly ❤️🩹
noooooo, it's not fair, why bodies, why are you like this?!?!
It's been most of 20 years since the last time I wasn't in pain.
That is extremely unfair for you. I'm sorry.
Especially with the bullshit red flags in my file that prevent me from getting as needed opioids at home except post-surgery
I've been using opioids on and off, mostly prescribed to me, for almost exactly 20 years now. Never had an overdose requiring intervention.
augh, so much hate for the prohibitionists and fear-mongers.
Anslinger is on my infanticide short list if I ever get access to a time machine.
