Life Without Buildings is like a coin that landed on its side for my taste -- I'm really drawn to it, but every time I listen I can't quite figure out if it's working for me. But because so few albums make me feel this way, my esteem for it has only grown without me settling into loving it.

love them so much. very special band. and they did the best thing possible, which was realise you can only really do that sort of thing once and then immediately leave it alone. their live album from Australia is incredible too. the live versions of New Town, Love Trinity, and Let's Get Out - WOW.

I loved them. They were bigger down here than the UK from memory - thus the live in Australia EP - but a single album and single EP is the exact amount of LwB the world needed.

I bought their cd at Tower Records within days of moving to Nashville in 2001, and I listened to it on a repeat several times while driving around trying to get lost on purpose. I only got a little bit lost, but that album has been fundamental for me ever since.

Can easily imagine having had an experience like this at a formative time, but didn't hear the album until much later, and never quite found my way to get lost (could still happen, I suppose)

GPS kind of ruined everyone's ability to get lost.
