Not correct. The Norwegian parliament is not involved. Prize is decided by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. The prize committee must be independent and can not be connected to any political entity.

It was assigned by Nobel specifically to a five-person committee, and the Norwegian Nobel Committee is selected by the Norwegian Parliament. I was a bit sloppy with the explanations. It's often been retired politicians, but you're right in that they're not active politicians.

You're right in that it's not a matter of debate in the Storting but it's not decided by a stuffy Swedish committee
