[ yeah and they're failing. they don't push support for their values, they hardly *have* values beyond whatever their wealthy donors want. they stop at the slightest resistance, legal or physical or spoken or anything. they're complicit. ]

[ a bunch of people don't even know you can legally put campaign funds towards building and supporting your local community in basic, highly assistive and supportive ways. they were questioning if @katmabu.bsky.social was allowed to do that when she did it. politicians should fucking do that more! ]
[ if democrats aren't even doing basic, bare-minimum shit like that, grassroots support and community growth, then how can i feel confident that they're putting their A-game into legislation? especially when even their legislation is total ass. ]
Every time Democrats try to do anything, voters punish them by electing Republicans. After Carter, we got 12(!) years of Reagan & Bush 41. After Clinton's first Congress, he was rewarded w six years of unified GOP control in Congress.
After Obama's first Congress, he was rewarded w six years of continuous GOP House, & then lost the Senate his final two years, costing us Scalia's seat & giving us Gorsuch. After Biden's first Congress, which was historically weak to begin w, he was rewarded w a GOP House.
What lesson do you think voters are teaching Democrats? Like, in 2010, after the ACA passed, if you still wanted UH, do you think you're more or less likely to get it when you elect a GOP House? They could've amended the ACA anytime in 2011-2017 if there'd been a strong enough Dem Congress.
But voters refused to elect one. Meanwhile, Democrats do something, the GOP obstructs, & then voters elect more Republicans. What lesson do you think voters are teaching Republicans? It's not possible for Democrats to give you better legislation w fewer seats. It *guarantees* you'll get less.
[ so basically, they got scared by the fascism machine into shutting up and having no values of their own, and now they think the winning strategy is to be republican lite. that plan is built to fail. like very obviously so. any competent leader would change course. but they're democrats. ]
