There are way less assaults on a Friday night outside the pub at closing time now, that used to be a big chunk of recorded crime.

To some degree. Probably be as more people have cut back on drinking and don't go out as much.

Sounds reasonable Gen Z drink far less than we Gen X did at their age. Basically my answer seems to be that crime is down because the scum (that’s me) got old and tired.
