His question assumes that the USA has a functional 'we' that can just be switched back on to normal mode by some as yet to be identified mechanism that somehow survives the coup. Until they give up that fantasy and accept just how bad things are they won't even slow the rate of decline.

Minimum this will look like an American Lost Decade or at worst a modern century of humiliation. The growing coalition of aggressive anti-establishment/anti-Trump will run on essentially Revenge.
