A lot of people struggling to get their heads around the possibility that Trump's posturing isn't an expression of American strength so much as an indicator of a potential implosion of the American system

Of course there is a lot that needs to be done to strengthen the EU. Especially because at this rate Europe might end up in a world where the Americans are so paralysed by domestic instability that they won't be much use to enemies or friends.

I think there’s a very good chance the American experiment ends in my lifetime and I’m a 53 year old American. Sad to say but I’m so disgusted by about 1/3 of our population, that if CA, OR, and WA split off, I couldn’t pack and move there fast enough.

This is a key point. Wars are won (and lost) on logistics and economic strength (ultimately, after much blood and sacrifice). And USA economic strength isn't much more than a bitcoin / AI hype bubble. Would any European bet their future security on that?

How Europeans keep watching on and hoping it won’t all get worse is a deer in floodlights moment, but on a “historic world events”-scale. Absolutely mind boggling and infuriating.

From afar Americans look mostly asleep, complacent, or complicit. Staggering to watch.

I viewed my own protests as almost a perfunctory thing – of course I would be out there for the end of our Republic and what it stood for. Apparently this was not a view shared by the majority of people who voted the same way I did.

Yes the consequences of the (understandable) Democratic states’ rights resistance logic likely point in this direction.

You would think the federal government invading America's most iconic cities again the will of the residents would be an obvious sign?!?!?
