At a time when figures like Johnson or Farage can develop teflon for a time among voters they need, someone like Polanski can flourish too. The hypnotism stuff alone won't knock him out, and unhinged right wing tabloid attacks will help construct a martyr narrative among liberals and the left

If Labour goes "lol no chance" towards Polanski, it would just repeat the same mistakes it made towards Farage, Corbyn and Boris Johnson.

Polanski is vocally against genocide which seems to be a position held by three party leaders in the UK: all three to the left of Starmer. Starmer, Farage, Badenoch all strongly supporting what is now formally recognised by international scholars of genocide as an ongoing genocide.

If he's like the last Labour Party leader the liberals and their media will join in the attacks on him.
