I’m originally from South Louisiana, born in 1961 during Jim Crow. I went to de jure segregated schools until 1970. It’s the same as it as always was. A majority of white voters went for David Duke for governor in 1991. The difference between Duke and the present governor, Jeff Landry, is bupkis.

Was it worth all those lost lives just so we could try to force the South not to hate on black people? We would have been better off to free and arm the slaves and cut these Johnny Rebs loose because now they control the country and we’re right back where we started. Their young are like their old.

It’s Oregon so likely a mix of Latino, Asian and AA. He gained with all three just about everywhere in 2024.

I’m not sure what the information is here. The Rs have run Mississippi for decades, and the state has been racist that whole time. Has someone been claiming there’s a new south thing going on?

It is virtually unchanged with the exception of a few states where economic forces and demographic shifts to large urban areas have tilted the balance(Atlanta, Triangle in North Carolina)
