Hi Toby @polphilpod.bsky.social, After LA and DC, I've been thinking how Emergency Powers are every authoritarian's favourite weapon. What if invoking emergency laws automatically triggered oversight, review and power sharing? Do you know anywhere that's been tried? effectively?

and more "if you, leader, thought this was bad enough to need emergency powers (and you actually loved the country over yourself), you would be keen to share the key info with other major parties, and have your worked thoroughly checked by independent judiciary / auditors.
