i could be wrong, i am not a computer/electrical engineer nor do i work on the firmware or contribute to any projects that work on this stuff and it is purely off of vibes but it would make sense that if your controllers have an underlying bug... and microsoft basically has a control to check for

misconfigured/improperly handled APST/etc and then they accidentally (or intentionally) remove that check/fix, hey now all of your customers are fucked

and very real and reproducible to play devil(phison)s advocate, "4,500 hours of testing"(in lab conditions) is literally nothing compared to the combined hours of real world use/testing of hundreds of thousands of device owners. 'anti-Phison "big agenda"' though, lol, lmao even.
