The big 3 have raced their way to the bottom to join Fox. The venerated weekend political shows are a joke as well.

Agreed. Mostly. PBS appears to be less sensationalist. Where to put the blame? People who tune in and buy the products. If we want to put TV's feet to the fire, boycott the advertisers, because the networks don't/can't control content. Or more likely, don't care.
