Elections Canada had some internet issues last night but thanks to a manual system, people could still vote and votes could still be counted. Our system is super simple for the voter (end user) but has many checks to avoid tampering.
Tbh, US version of "electronic voting" is crazy mix of weird stuff and it's like designed to be problematic, user-unfriendly, and cause issues. This is better system - going on since 2005 and not a known russian interference.
Also problems with acessibility or crazy lines do not exist if you can just vote online in less than 15 minutes. Makes it super accessible to everyone, from everywhere.

I'm curious, are any of the big protests here covered in Canada? They're barely covered by our media—it's really failing us. Millions of us have turned out repeatedly and I see very little coverage on even local news. My tiny town had a protest of 3000—biggest ever—and it wasn't on our news.
There's some coverage, especially early in the Tesla Take-downs, but not as much as you'd expect considering the scale. At least two things going on, 1) Flooding the zone really works. 2) US owned corporate media in both countries. Ultimately if the protest is disruptive it becomes unignorable.
Corporate media has been complicit, I agree. Weak coverage due to not wanting to be targeted by the govt/wanting to protect mergers, plus the right-wing media is hopelessly biased. We're out there daily in every state but it's not breaking through—fingers crossed the May 1st protest gets noticed!
