My grandson was gradually getting used to my new puppy (after having been bitten by a poorly trained dog). He was doing fake falls. I told him to stay down and pretend to cry. Sure enough, puppy came up to him to make sure he was ok. Does the same when I cry over something on TV.

My cat is the same way. I recently had surgery, and when I came home, my cat didn't leave my side for weeks. She was constantly watching over me to make sure I was okay. When I'd wince in pain, she'd come over and let me pet her, knowing that would make me feel better.

Strangely enough, cats can be the same way. When I get home from my mom’s funeral, my rescue kitty, Max, didn’t leave my side for a week. We don’t deserve any of them

One week after we got our sweet girl (rescue Eskimo lab mix) I was watching a sad movie and I started crying. She came up to me, put her paws on my shoulders, and started licking my tears. THAT made me cry even harder!

Nine years ago after a forced change in antidepressant medication I had a breakdown and ended up in a mental health facility. After a week or so my mom & sister visited. I requested they bring my sister's dog Larry. While sitting at the picnic table he saw my state and walked over to give me a hug.

We sat like that for about 30 seconds, long enough for my sister to get her phone from her purse, unlock it, open the phone app and get this pic. He was already my friend but that day he became my support animal. I pet sat for him for the next 6 years until he passed 2 1/2 years ago. I miss him.
