About time.! The Republicans do it every time they get in office. But the Democrats? Nope. The Democrats should also do it every time they get in office. But nooo... Democrats are always trying to play nice with Republicans while the Republicans are trying desperately to stab them in the back.

Democrats should make it harder to do. That is the solution, end gerrymandering. It is the popular stance, everyone hates gerrymandering. Them doing it back is just the best of the bad decisions. I want to have a more representative government, not a more rigged one.

Dems can't change the rules for better if they don't have the power to do so. If dems ever get power back, I'm pretty sure they will try to outlaw gerrymandering from either side.

You have way more faith in dems than I do. For what it is worth, I hope that you are right.

Dems have a big incentive to outlaw gerrymandering & voter suppression. Because dems win when everybody's vote is counted. And Republicans know it too. That's why repubs work so hard to find different ways to suppress democratic votes. They know they can't win unless they cheat.

I think that where we disagree is that the Democratic party acts in ways that are rational and consistent with their stated platform. While conservatives have utilized gerrymandering to great effect, a lot of establishment Dems benefit from it as well. It is how we get the massive disconnect (1/2)

folks like Jeffries and Schumer and the voting base. Populists will do far better without gerrymandering than technocrats will. Thus, you get pushback from the ratcheting mechanism that is centrist dems. Ending it would certainly benefit "the party" but at the expense of the leadership.
