it is pretty obvious when they mean "animals" they mean "beings which have no ability of communication/literal fucking animals" and not "furries" if they started doing that the site would die. istg I agree w/the users of this platform a lot but HOLY CHRIST the strawman does fit very, VERY rarely

Fansly blanket banned all furries with this same reasoning.

addendum: I do suggest that some clarification is added to this rule, that being "for reference, a quadrupedal animal with no ability to speak". thank you one commenter for reminding me of fansly. that helps a lot on the adverse reaction to this vague rules = abuse in the system, I see this now

It's not obvious at all actually. That's the issue of intentionally vague writing. You can't say for certain in what, if any, context they will deem furries (which are obviously animals let's not pretend otherwise) vs animals as different by the written policy.

maybe, but they could definitely make the saying less vague "Animals" can still very much count anthros to someone who isn't educated enough about the subject

"beings which have no ability of communication" please understand that this is going to affect art more than it is going to affect the actual abuse content that gets uploaded onto here. this is a weird rule to have based on something completely arbitrary in relation to art.

the part that is arbitrary is the specified consent part. I could look for any vanilla drawing of a furry couple holding hands and kissing and say that it's unsure they're actually able to consent because they're animals and it wasn't specified in the art that they both consent or are even able to.

I mean people draw pokemon fucking their sonas all the time. Last I checked most people agree upon furries having a human level of intelligence, and most Pokémon having intelligence equal to animals. Is it beastiality to draw your sona fucking a Cinderace? Is established consent required?

Yeah, but what about Feral sonas? What about Centaurs? To me, this interpretation just reads as naive. Everywhere is cracking down on adult content, and a majority of furry art is adult content. Do you really trust the mods to be fair on this shit?

..how is this.. connected to queer artists at all? yes domino theory, but wouldn't that mean all art by minorities by proxy is also at stake? I don't like spokesperson-ism, but as an enby I think this is more about furries - and I care for the community as a bee enjoyer myself

...Because most furries are queer? The vast, vast majority of adult artists, in fact? As respectfully as possible, you don't seem to understand that this has happened before elsewhere and people are speaking about what will happen based on actual experience

I have quite literally stated that I understand it has happened on Fansly in an addendum post - muting this thread atm, think it's best that my questions have been answered I mean yeah you're right, I just kinda separated the groups without critical analysis. frankly I'm a little tired

People who are not furries tend not to differentiate between depictions of anthropomorphic animals and actual animals, and that's putting aside the fact that the line actually is quite blurry in some places. Whether that's out of misunderstanding or malice, the result is the same.

To assume they will not is to assume cis het people have our best interests in mind, and that simply is not the case. At best, it is naive as hell. At worst, it is boot licking.

It's pretty obvious when something is real vs not real. That should be simple enough of a line for moderation. And yet, here we are, constantly having to deal with sites writing up vague ass garbage that amounts to "if we decide it looks kinda like something we'll ban you."

It can be... very inconsistent what it means depending on the site. I remember one artist got told that furry art was okay on Patreon but then found out that they weren't allowed to do human on furry art there because THAT was considered bestiality by the moderators.
