It didn't take long to find what I expected. The last time the Democrats "ha[d] the votes" (including centrists who caucus with them) was more than a decade ago. Unless you imagine you have some magic to force everyone to toe the line. But it goes beyond that. [1/2] bsky.app/profile/john...

Policy positions that strong leftists stake out don't win elections in swing districts or states. You can find surveys showing they're popular -- until the GQP points out that the policies will also help scary minorities. The only coherent argument for undercutting Harris was accelerationism. So is your memory only a decade long then? And you ever notice how the Republicans will pass broadly unpopular legislation that benefits the rich, often with democratic help? Never seems to be an issue, doesn’t stop them from getting elected. But the Dems can’t seem to do the same for the poor.

"So is your memory only a decade long then?" Go back more than a decade the the conservative "Democrats" were more conservative. "doesn’t stop them from getting elected" Folks on the right have been voting strategically for decades -- for the rightmost candidate who can win. We see the results.

So why don’t you want to fight fire with fire by pushing for the Left most candidates???? You realize by being a “centrist” you are just inching further and further right by the decade right?

Honestly? You should push for the candidate who has a chance to win and would be effective at the policies you want. Results, not rallies. But don't pretend winning in deep blue districts means everyone agrees. We won't be able to pass the legislation you want without a much larger majority.

How did that work? Again, do Libs want to bitch and whine about how Americans aren’t the kind of stewards of Democracy they want, or do you want to fucking WIN You WIN by appealing to voters concerns Telling Leftist their concerns don’t matter then demanding their votes, is idiotic.

You're deliberately misrepresenting what I said. I'm not interested in bad faith discussions; muting.

Your argument is that voters should vote differently, not that the party should try to appeal to those voters. That’s a stupid loser strategy that is guaranteed to lose.

I don't want the "left-most candidates". The further left "left-most" moves, the more true that becomes.

Leftists with our desire to create a more just and egalitarian society for everyone except the wealthy minority. Wanting true Democracy, and a state that responds to the concerns of the people and not the rich. Oh and our desire to end Genocide Yeah that must be a tough program to get behind…. ._.

And yet the majority of the global population under 40 wants Israel exterminated.

"But the Dems can’t seem to do the same for the poor." Biden's policies intended to help people in lower deciles and did so. ( www.epi.org/publication/... ) The ACA's subsidies were also helpful. Neither got any credit on the left; I assume that's because these were incremental, not "revolution!"

And before you accuse me of being pollyanna esque about the economic situation for those outside the top decile or the overall rising inequality here -- my point wasn't that things are great. It's just that Democrats did try to do something with legislation, and you're ignoring it.

There’s always an excuse. “What if 51% in a poll doesn’t like it??” The last time someone shoved something good for us down our throats whether we liked it or not was FDR, and he won 4 fucking times. But centrists are ultimately beholden to the interests of Capital.
