I see folks there. Enough to swing an election.

By going socially conservative to "attract them" you lose other voters who want you to be socially progressive (and you lose more than you gain based on the density of the quadrants). There is no path to victory there.

Going Left loses more voters than it picks up. See “Hillary robbed Bernie” (2016) and “they’re the same” (2024) for details. Also see “defund the police”.

The better response is, “I don’t want the government making my medical decisions & I also don’t want it making anyone else’s medical decisions.” It doesn’t alienate the base and it appeals to the dead-center of the graph. That’s the difference between tacking to the center and tacking to the right.

I don't want corporations making my medical decisions based on how much money they will make is the correct answer

And yet chasing them at the expense of anyone opposed to fascism caused Dems to lose the presidential election. Almost like it isn’t enough to swing an election and you just want to keep the Nazis in power by having Dems throw more elections.

Problem is despite gaining a few votes by courting the top-left and bottom-right, you’ll end up losing more votes overall by alienating the bottom left. Whatever amount you gained is totally negated by those losses.
