Are you referring to what we SAY, or what we DO?
Are you referring to what we SAY, or what we DO?
Religious beliefs in extreme are dangerous to life on the planet. That’s all.
you might be elevating these outliers.
They are Fanatics who don’t even follow their own rules
Are you sure you still are a democracy? I have few doubts...
I suspect a lot of people, when they hear "Christian Nationalist," think "I'm a Christian and I love my nation, that sounds great!" It's not necessarily the pejorative people want it to be. How about "Christian Supremacist?"
Fair point...
American Taliban. Same dance, just a slightly different tune.
There’s always christofascist…
Chris Hedges has a word for Christian fascists, he calls them Evangelicals.
Where I'm from, a nationalist is something way different from a person who simply loves their country. It means that the own nation is superior to others.
How about fascist hypocrite
I call them Bible Nazis... No matter if they are fascist evangelicals or catholic fascists. All these xtian mullahs, no matter which sect of xtianity who want a state much like Iran or under the Taliban, but with crosses...
Nationalist does not mean you love your nation. That's patriotism. Nationalism is more chauvinistic, exclusionary, and often aggressive.
I think that would not be taken for a pejorative. Accurate as it may be.
I would suggest that they would agree, they say Christ is Supreme. So what's to dislike with Christian Supremacy?
Fair. This may take a little more work shopping.
I personally use Christofascist.
Add "white"
Fair. (skinned)
But that’s not what Nationalist means.
Really? Are you sure? Or is that not what it means to you?
Nationalists are people who see their own nation as paramount to all others and this feeling trickles down to feelings toward people who are not of their definition of what a person of their nation should be.
How about "Anti-American"
Christo*fascist*
You're right, but words have meanings. And people need to know them before they use them.
Is there any reason to believe that large groups of people accidentally identify themselves that way? People generally know what identifiers they take on mean. I think this is just a tendency to give ‘those kinds of people’ any cover + excuse you can find to diminish the virulence of their beliefs.
Christianists?
"Nationalism" is diametrically oppose to multiculturalism and anti-racism. Nationalism is not patriotism. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationa...
If you walked up to a white nationalist and called them a white nationalist do you think they would be insulted?
That would not. They would take pride in it. At least, in my experience of calling out white nationalist.
How about just “white supremacist”? How many Christian supremacists/nationalists are black?
How about AntiChristian Racist Fascist. It’s actually what they are. They do not advocate nor live by the core teachings and principles of Christ! Everyone needs to drop the Christian part! There’s nothing Christian about them. The faith is just a beard for their Satanic desires & ambitions!!!
It’s very simple. Christian nationalism is white supremacy.
We are a limited democracy which means instead of sharing power we concentrate and then vote on it thus creating the conditions for extremism
Yes, we’re deliberately NOT a Christian Nation
Maybe if they edited before posting it would mean something. 🤷♀️
As an atheist, and a person who believes in trying to leave my own little place in the world, maybe a little bit better than it was when I arrived in it, I’m so goddam sick of the phrase “Christian nation”. Anyone who claims that can GF themselves.
She's also divorced ... which, last I checked, wasn't looked upon kindly by her version of Christianity.
Fundamentalists always pick and choose their fundamental tenets.
What I don't understand is how they're supposedly *so* obsessed with The Constitution, and yet the separation of church and state is the FIRST SENTENCE in the Bill of Rights and they're unaware of it.
Oh because all of the countries who base their identity around religion are doing so well…
⬇️
It reminds me of Good Omens, when Crowley is explaining neutron bombs to Aziraphale. "All higher life forms wiped out." "All of them?" "Yep, just cockroaches and fundamentalists left."
isn't she the person who thought "democracy" and "pandemic" sharing the root "dem" was evidence of some kind of conspiracy instead of just, you know, how word roots work?
They should ask her which denomination she follows. And then branch of said denomination.
#ChristoFascists are proof enough for me that there is no god, only grifters for money and power. Q. E. D. #Politics
What size white hood do you think she wears?
Doing some last minute Christmas shopping?
If I would buy her something for Christmas, it would fit around her neck -- tightly.
As a Christian I have to agree with you. Which Christian church does she think should be in charge?
Kind of crazy how the right gets away with openly saying they are Christian fascists meanwhile the left gets grief for saying that any genocide is wrong.
She's an Ian (Christian without Christ)
She is either exceptionally stupid, or happily going hoods-off (why bother with the subtlety of dog whistles these days?). Alas, with Marge, I tend towards the former. Which leads me to wonder, with all due respect, exactly what kinds of heavy metals are in the water system down in GA-14.
The problem with right wing Americans is that they think Nazi refers to the Socialism part of the origin word, while it actually refers to Nationalism.
So, like the crusades, or......
by "christian nationalist" she means neo-nazi.
There should be some shortened nickname for nationalists, like naties… or… nats, or… natsies? Yeah that sounds right, let’s call em Natsies.
Whatever she wants it to mean in the moment because she can't remember what she said the last time she was asked. Our six month old tabby boy kitten is more sentient and sensible than she is. By far.
Why did the people who came to North America leave Europe? Religion. We did not want to be ruled by anybody's church or other house of worship.
Take a close look at your country. Are you sure the USA is still a free, pluralistic, and secular nation? Could you be warning about something that has already begun? I'm from Germany. We're sort of specialists in that. And I can tell you, it doesn't look good.
Go off king
I wonder if she thinks every single person in her district is a Christian? I doubt it. And does this mean she doesn't represent non-Christians in her district? So she doesn't represent her part of the country? Sounds like a big problem to me.
A Fascist by any other name is a Fascist. This thing is an ignorant Fascist.
Yes, but she’s “that” sort of Christian.
A theocrat that bases their theocracy on vibes.
We need to vote this unstable misrepresentation out of office, but if we do it won’t be because of this
If she is a Christian, I am an aardvark.
Same.
Loads of aardvarks around!
It’s very presumptuous of these people to assume that everyone believes in their god.
They don't much care. They have ways to make you believe, or they'll die trying. Oh wait, no... YOU'LL die from them trying...
The good point with the Inquisition was they did all their best to send you to paradise. Convincing you with very motivating arguments to embrace faith and cleaning your soul with fire if you failed to catch the hint... Bad luck that paradise doesn't exist 😮💨
Or dig you up after your funeral and baptize you in their religion
Christan Taliban....🤢
Any type of nationalism = fascism.
It is terrifying that people openly campaign for something that would basically end religious freedom in the US. There are many people who think Christian nationalist just means a patriotic Christian, so they let this go unchecked.
Is she gonna overrun Ma'arra and eat the Islamic inhabitants or...??
When I read Handmaid's Tale in 1998, it kind of seemed an unrealistic scenario. Ever since 2001, what comes out of the USA, makes it more believable every day.
Mike Pompeo patiently biding his time waiting for his chance…
Another reason for separation of church and state.
👏
Actually she's into a nationalist christian nation. Which is way worse
