FYI H5N1 has several variants, the one common in cows and dairy workers is different and can be referred to as Bovine Flu. It's only ever produced mild symptoms in humans while the Avian Flu is about 50% lethal. The news is doing a bad job differentiating between the variants.

I know of a study done on Amish kids who grew up in close proximity to livestock. The conclusion was that they had healthier immune systems due to contact with bacteria. It doesn't work like that for those of us who weren't farm raised. We get ill when we encounter it.

I live in a rural area and buy raw organic local milk every week because: 1) It's what I grew up drinking and I love it, 2) if there are any problems with any batch (haven't ever been) I know exactly where the milk came from and who to talk to, 3) it comes in returnable glass bottles so no plastic.
