Marriage is a matter of religion. The State should not be involved. If your religion will not allow gay marriage, create a new one that does. The state should sanction civil unions between any two consenting adults. There is a public interest in civil unions because 2 heads are better than 1.

Easy fix: just change references to “spouse” in these laws to “domestic partner” while granting domestic partner status to everyone who is already married. A basic “search and replace.” Lots of laws are going to be reconsidered soon in any event. That’s what happens when an election flips power.
