This is exactly why mental illness and neurodivergence can not be accepted excuses for one's actions. A reason perhaps, but not an excuse for lack of accountability. Despite your issues you are responsible for the consequences of your actions.

This is far from the truth. Neurodivergent and mentally ill people are not shielded from anything, but are among the most vulnerable people in society.
If you are talking about Musk or Trump they aren't held accountable because of their money and power. I ASSURE you that among the general population they are held accountable and many die at the hands of law enforcement.
I do not care if the author is on the spectrum, this is straight up ableism. Musk has MONEY. In reality poor people with autism and mental illness are more likely to be shot by the police, then to get away with anything! Reminds me of those hateful articles on "trans privilege" by TERFs!

I’m neurodivergent and I graduated medical school before I was even diagnosed. It was a challenge for me but not an insurmountable one. And medicine is a field in which accountability is a requirement. A lack of accountability gets people killed.
