Sadly, this is true. The majority of members of teams don't get the corporate issued cell and laptop to make this possible so they are knowingly kept out of the loop. Only the Managers and upper management can play this game.

Always respond quickly with a request for more information.
Here's another tip: Why don't individual Dem. states raise taxes on billionaires to replace what Dirty Diaper Donnie has mercilessly clawed back from social programs?
I've found I can ignore half of my work emails and if I wait long enough, the problem goes away or is replaced by another, equally unimportant problem. Which I also ignore.
You can get away with a lot of stuff by ignoring them too.
But only for so long.
True. Everything catches up to us eventually. 🫣
Yes but, if you ALWAYS respond quickly it’s suspicious. Pepper in some delays. 🤣
I'm a quick responder too, but I think it's great that you're mindful of your "Away" status. Do you ever get notifications while you're away, or do you prefer to keep your devices on silent mode?
Airplane mode 😉
Are we talking murder and dismemberment “anything” because I’m listening
🤫
I know several people in ~1000 person company I work who have built very successful careers from this... with no real obvious broader skill behind it.
I always like to answer quickly, it’s just how my brain works.
To be fair, I am a very quick at answering because I've got that AuDHD working for me and if I don't, ouuuu look at the cute squirrel!
Nice
Me too - and everyone thinks I’m super-efficient. But it’s now or never.
Same! If I don't do it right this second, it's gone forever. I may occasionally remember it when it's 3am, or I'm in a situation where I can't do a damn thing about it, but during working hours it's gone baby gone.
Exactly. Respond to the now thing. Respond to the new now thing. Respond to the next new now thing. Oh it’s late now.
It's true!
Truth
Plus you can put both teams and outlook on you phone
It's true!!
It is either answer the email immediately or forget about it forever.
The downside is... if you always answer quickly, guess who everyone goes to with problems? You.
Ah but then they assume you're always available for work.
If I don't respond right away, I will FORGET! Also, I don't want to look like I'm not at my computer...having Teams on my phone helps...but I don't always get the notification someone messaged me.
Not wrong, unless you're "in-office" and very much not because that immediately gets noticed
On the internet no one knows you're a bunny
💯
They will never find out.
This is about so much more than bipartisan bs though…and everyone seems to have forgotten that. The spirit of being yourself is like 90% dead in America.
📌
This is a fact! You’ll get raises and bonuses too
Can confirm this is true. Although it also leads to more work because people come to you because you are the responsive one.
Currently sitting in a lawn chair in my yard “monitoring” email and teams 🤣
Can verify
Best way to end up doing the work of 5 people without the pay too!!!
Accurate.
If that's the case, I'm in trouble.
This is true. My boss's boss recently complimented me on how quickly I respond to chats.
Don't even like a phone
While technically true, the downside is that you become the "guy who always answers their emails" so watch your inbox fill faster than ever.
My tip? When you start a new position attend the first 3 social events, no matter how much you REALLY don't want to. After that, you never have to go to anything at all because you'll be "That social guy" forever Plus, your email load is much friendlier 😁
Honestly I just can't sit there doing work with that unread message staring me in the face.
So very true.
If I am working on some code in the afternoon I always leave it an hour or more after 5pm and then share my pull request. In the morning it looks like I've carried in working for another hour.
There are people at work who honestly say stuff like "sorry I won't make the meeting because I have an appointment". No, you say. "Sorry, I'm skipping this meeting to focus on a pressing deadline, I may appear offline but I will check emails from time to time". Then go for a nice walk.
I actually do not reply quickly because it teaches people that you are at their beckon call and to be even more demanding and impatient than they already are. At my job we have up to 48 hrs (not including weekends) to respond. During busy times I take the 48 hrs, other times up to 24 hours.
Oddly enough 'Beckon Call' sorta works to describe what you mean, But the phrase is usually written 'Beck and Call' Having done a 30secSearch it seems Beck is the Archaic root of Beckon
Can confirm. Travel a lot to remote locations with sketchy wifi and no cell service, and you can get away with virtually anything. Not ... not that I'd know, or anything.
Story of my working life.
- I'm good at doing math very quickly! - OK, so what's 44325 times 273? - 42! - But that's not correct? - But it was quick!
This........is absolutely true.
I walk around the warehouse with a clipboard and random papers. Stop and look at stuff every so often. No one questions what you are doing.
Worked for me at an insurance company. The fatter the files, the better.
It's like I told my old boss; I'm incredibly lazy, so I take care of everything that I need to do as soon as possible so I can spend the rest of the day doing nothing. His response was "That weirdly makes sense."
my genius move always be the first in the office
Hahaha this is so funny and so true.
