You live and you learn.
You live and you learn.
Doesn’t help that they’re sorry they thought they were so cute at the time Grow Up and investigate something before you open your mouth
Red caps NEVER learn, they are crazy dipshits.
So what was it? Family money or OF?
If breathing oxygen can net me an income, I want my cut.
There were many ways to temper her announcement. Like “I was extremely fortunate to be able to do this and of course luck, and all of you are also to thank. I hope as unique as my situation is, it also inspires other to know what can be possible.” Still, not great, but better. Or just say nothing.
If people watch her stuff and she invested her money I am not bothered. But being a turd is not good.
Unfortunately, some never do
She’s a young woman & member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Her videos are apparently about being yourself & finding positive outlets to deal w trauma. She makes people happy. She’s bought houses & cars, but also does things for her family & rescues. I just bought my 1st 🏠 in my 40s & I’m happy for her.
I guess there are suckers for this shit at every corner of social media. I don’t know which is more pathetic, those that post meaningless babble like this bitch, or those that consume it. Either case they are pathetic. Get a real job and stop expecting others to support your lazy ass lifestyle.
Thank you for the context. My initial impulse, too, was to be happy for her. I'm not one to do otherwise. Congrats to you! 🍾🥂
Thanks! 😊 And I’m the same. My initial impulse is usually to be happy for people. It’s a much nicer way to live, for me anyway.
And she never did a damn meaningful thing in her life to justify owning a home. It’s sad we reward people like this leach while others who work their ass off and actually contribute to society in a meaningful way are overlooked and not rewarded.
Influencer, such a misnomer
Well, some learn.
I'd love for people to stop paying influencers.
We all know those teardrop stories. And we don’t care …
Oh look! More views by offering a "tearful apology".
I see what you did there and your callout is accurate!
More views = more money too. So just more incentive to be a pos.
Accurate
She's only sorry she didn't get universal praise. Yet another selfish, self-centered person who thinks that the world revolves around them.
It was all stolen land to begin with #ReturnTheBlackHills
While I take your point and don’t disagree, she’s British and continues to live in the UK.
it's better to be humble than to be humiliated.
Yeah, likelt because it then hit her income, remember her views are what pays for it, and however someone clickbait you into watching it, they're still making money off you.
I’m not mad about the success of others in itself but I am pretty salty about not having the right to escape poverty EVER again as a disabled woman with a terminal illness indefinitely dependent upon the very same government that wants to take away my livelihood and healthcare.
Unfortunately too many live and dont learn.
Be humble when sharing your good works
Two thoughts: One, that’s a stupid thing to brag about. Two, I’m extremely grateful that there’s no record of all the stupid stuff I said when I was 21.
She didn't have to make a record, not all 21 yo do.
Sure, but I think it’s important for me to remember that we got a pass on all that in previous generations because there wasn’t a way to make that kind of record. I could have recorded myself saying something dumb on a VHS tape, but nobody’d ever have seen it.
I think that's my point. She's an "influencer" (whatever the fuck that is), she's actively making sure others see it. Diaries and journals have always been written and published.
Never understood what an "influencer" is. Why on Earth are people not their own influencer?
My own plan, if faced with the situation, is if someone is introduced to me as an influencer, to just immediately and preemptively punch them in the face. It’s just safer that way.
I like it!
Because those that watch this trash live a shallow existence and are devoid of any self respect. They require the stories of others to make them feel relevant and connected. Meanwhile the “content”/dribble creators laugh their sorry asses off to the bank. This is the laziest fucking generation.
it's basically a euphemism for walking talking advertisement machine
Gloating is not cool.
People who pay attention to the opinions of influencers are wasting their time on losers who can’t get a real job or a real life. They live on & for the internet. They use the term IRL because their lives are not real.
But, do they?
To bad the old saying didn't go "First they came for the influencers..."
A woman on a plane was telling me she had bought two houses by age 24. After some prodding, she told me she had inherited a substantial amount of money to fund it.
If you rent you are "mortgage free"
smart kid to lock in a house while the money is flowing, it's a feet to celebrate and buying a livable home instead of a supercar or other toy first is something worth bragging about.
Reminds me of a meme of a sad looking middle age man. It's captioned that he was so excited after years of hard work to finally make 6 figures - and then saw an 18 year old girl who was a millionaire from showing her butthole on the internet.
Hmmm…. Some people do, but her apology has already been deleted. Has she learned or did she conveniently post an apology while it was fresh and timely? Who knows her real truth?
The shitty thing is, "buying a house at 21" should not be notable. Back in the 1950s, it wasn't.
There are so many negative things said here. Who cares how she makes her money she was able to find a way to get a thing most people cannot because of the corrupt systems that are infront of us. Instead of attacking her, attack predatory systems that increase prices, Governments and Corporations.
Ah yes the minimum wage in America is $7.25 and run by tips but let's be mad at 1 person who got a house for scoping out other things. Let's not get mad that the minimum wage in America is $7.25 and should change. Bigger issues.
This was just a generalised example of an issue surrounding work and such.
What's she influencing people on, and why the fuck are they influenced by her?
I bought my first house at 19...had a 20 yr mortgage to boot.
People are mad at her for owning her home mortgage-free at 23? Seriously?
Because most people can't even with a mortgage these days at 43.
She did, good for her. Are we supposed to base our opinion of people on whether they are more or less successful than we are?
When they brag about something that is purely the result of luck...
No, they're not mad about that - they don't appreciate the pointless bragging about it, the implication that she's SO much better than everyone else because of this. But you knew this, pointless troll, didn't you?
You got that from the linked video?
Who cares
Sometimes it's best to keep.
A Thomas Pynchon novel or David Bowie album “influences” me, these people are just hucksters.
Please let me get down on my knees for being proud of myself for working hard and finding a way to be financially successful. WTF! Let's cheer her on instead of pushing her down. Unite instead of Divide! Indivisible!
Person buys house in bradford, hardly something to brag about, that place is a hole...
The only time I mention how well off I am is to point out the advantages I had as a white son of a WWII veteran. My dad became an engineer on the GI bill and bought our homes in segregated neighborhoods on VA loans. I inherited all that. America would be far better off if everyone was so advantaged.
A kid. Now were she the age of, say, a great grandfather, she'D be POTUS. Empty talking head. Hopefully she can find more to do than munch on cake.
She deleted her apology video but kept the brag video lol ok
will not be watching
I don’t TikTok 🤷♀️
Nope, never touch it... I've heard it's habit forming! 😵💫
The second I got a message that trump restored the tiktok feed on the app I was out
Same, deleted the app and haven’t been back
I don't know if she'll learn to keep her big flapping mouth shut. Brainless and heartless. I wonder how many homeless people she walked past on her way up the ladder?
So because others don’t have homes, neither should she? Do you have a home? How many homeless people did YOU walk by on your way to having a stable home? Smh.
👏
I used to own a home. I lost it. But I didn't get on some social media outlet and boast about it to absolute strangers when I bought it or whine when I lost it. I rent now. I will never own another house. thank god.
The rest of us who own homes don't need to give tearful apologies due to our hubris coming back to bite us in the ass, now do we?
She celebrated buying a home. She really didn’t need to apologize. It wasn’t hubris, it was excitement. I’m in my 40s and just bought my first house. I was excited. I also drank some champagne and sent out pics to friends & family. She just has a wider reach. I don’t get all the hate.
Are you a 21-year-old with no discernible talent "celebrating" to a base who may never own property, let alone outright brag about doing so in cash? No? Well, I guess there's no need to insert yourself into her place and view the criticism as coming for you then, is there?
I don’t see it as coming for me. I just don’t understand why so many people are so angry. She bought a house & opened a bottle of champagne. 🤷🏼♀️ Buying your first home is a thing that’s normal to celebrate. She wasn’t mean or hateful about it. She was excited that she bought a house. That’s all.
Only envy and frustration explains the abuse she received upon achieving a significant achievement. She has nothing to apologize for and should have told those bitching to sod off.
Escaping assumed debt proves challenging during the FO phase.
Good Lord. Painful Life lessons.
Which probably got even more clicks which made her richer. Monetisation is a fickle business. Her level of flavour with the world will subside.
Why be mad at her? Seems the fools who watch her and helped make her an "influencer" should be the ones questioning themselves. Clearly she's doing something others want. I say good for her.
I agree both both the influencers and the influenced are pathetic.
What's so bad about her being proud she was able to become a home owner at that age?
Good. It's gauche as hell to say, "Hey, schmucks! I made bank off YOU! LOOK at what I can afford while YOU starve." Yeah. Totally tone deaf and immature.
In the UK we call it ,'Fuck about, find out'... x
I can't say that I've ever generally heard it called that.
And then you have low income laborers, who are happy if they can pay their bills and afford food on the table for their children ... just for #FelonTrump and the @GOP to pass their big ugly bill, and cost them even more money, while billionaire are partying b/c of the tax break!
She needs to remember that the “Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away…” Hope she’s smart enough to manage her finances, and maintain the house 🏡
There is a very small, very ugly part of me that wonders what it's all for - why so many people give up so much to help others for little material gain while others, for no discernible reason, end up with more wealth than sense. We don't listen to that part of me...but I won't deny that it's there.
She definitely needs a few more reality checks for that lame apology.
I don't even share good news with my wife and kids.
....or not...!?! 🤪
Stop making stupid people famous and rich. Social media is cancer.
It’s not her fault she was raised in a privileged bubble, but it’s definitely her fault if she doesn’t learn from this.
The shame is on her followers. She has a right to be proud. A homeowner with no mortgage is a great feat. It was done on the backs of the morons who worship her, who are now pissed off.
"Wear your privileges lightly" is a lesson people aren't learning. Crassness has become the Mode du société. I blame reality TV.
Good point. I also blame people who don’t take accountability for their lives and live off of other’s gullibility.
Scammers don't usually in historic perspective, influence mainstream society. With the advent of broadcast media, we got a tool to influence society. If you look at the patterns, a lot of initiatives can be found in sitcoms years before the law is made. The soil is prepped.
At the very least, (as far as I can tell) this isn't one of these cases of someone boasting how their 'self-made success' allowed them to buy their own home, but almost always ends up being that it was their well-off parents not only paying the deposit, but also helping with their bills.
"Influencers" are useless. But apparently some of them make a lot of money being useless. I'm in my late 50s and have been working actual jobs since I was 16. I've been in a "professional" career for 30 years and have never been able to afford ownership, and retirement may be a stretch. F that B.
When I was young we would have called "Influencers" Con artists.
I mean, they’re no more con artists than any other celebrity.
They’re not celebrities just leaches.
How are they not celebrities? They make content for entertainment purposes, you know like actors & comedians do. You may not like the content but somebody does if she can buy a house
I would hardly call it entertainment. It’s complete excrement and babble. What’s worse are the idiots who find this entertaining. Perhaps 1% of the influencers have something of value to offer, the rest are leaches that suck money off stupid clueless people without a life.
You not liking the content does not equate to leeches. That’s Trumpian rhetoric. Influencers can have zero value to YOU, but YOU can’t dictate that for others. Feeling right doesn’t mean you are.
I agree, I can't stand "reality" tv shows but others do so I just don't watch it. I don't tell others they can't. Unless content is actually dangerous, who cares. Stupid sure, but leeches? No
As I said, there's a lot of influencers that haven't trained or worked to develop skills like actors & comedians do. A key part of their success is their looks - they're selling themselves, not their abilities. Followers get the illusion of having a friend (often "pretty") & being part of a group.
I'm sure there are some influencers out there who do have extraordinary knowledge and ability, but there's far too many that don't. It also doesn't help that children are growing up seeing social media content alongside TV & films on their devices and don't really know how they're different.
I know a lot of actors are famous for their looks as well, but at least most of them have a skill. But I actually think most fame is garbage. We praise people for skills that are mediocre at best - popular music is a great example. True virtuosity gave way to pretty people who are just OK musicians.
Define "con artist." Many become celebs by working to be good at a particular skill, like acting or sports. "Influencers" generally become famous being a pretend friend to their followers, without having any particularly extraordinary skills or training. Being somewhat photogenic is all they need.
TOUCHE!!! 👏👏👏 That's ditto for me. I'll need to work until I die, from the lack of money. And similar to you, I've been working actual jobs that required lifting and carrying boxes & packages since I was 16. Hard work with low pay, just enough to scrape by. BTW, canned dog food isn't bad tasting.
Any idea what this "retirement" word is? Almost sounds french, also seems like one heck of a luxury.
I had lots of jobs like that before starting a career that mostly requires working at a desk on a computer. Busboy, lumber yard, bartender, slinging pizzas, slinging lattes, shoe warehouse, clothes warehouse, deli, and more. So many jobs doing actual work. Hopefully, pet food is off my old age menu.
I hope you'll have a better life 😁. FYI, not "pet food". Canned cat food tastes nasty. It's really fishy tasting. I guess they add "fish" to entice cats and kittens to eat their products.
Thank you. My life is not bad by any means. I just resent it when clueless, entitled people behave as if life should be a cake walk for everyone because it's a cake walk for them.
To be fair, Bradford isn't the most expensive part of the UK, but yes "Influencers" are an annoying phenomena. But let's not get mad at them - I bought myself a 1-bed flat with a warehouse salary in 1995, sold it nearly 10 years later. I would need 2 x my current wages to get it now. It was nowhere
Special, but I decided to move somewhere else, and "fell off" the property ladder, renting. I won't go into it, but my situation is looking pretty good now though for retirement etc. But let's continue to try to cut the link between Obscene wealth, and political influence - the main cause imo
*Narrator Voice* She didn't learn
'Influencers' should read 'people who can extract money from the stupid'
Do they though?
Nope
I don't see what she did wrong aside from bragging... She played the fame game and won big... hate the game not the player.
