I loved several of my old principals—The few I worked with that were not narcissistic, micromanaging fear mongers. That was years ago in another lifetime. I’ve since moved on to other things. Miss the kids greatly. It was my calling. Needed a break due to bullshit bureaucracy. I especially loved 1/2
2/2 working with the immigrant children. They were so respectful. The parents were gracious and thankful. They invited me into their homes & cooked me meals & taught me about their culture.I also taught many parents basic English. They were hard-working families who wanted better lives for their kids.

George... as someone undergoing her PhD to become a teacher... most of us are like that... we gotta get somewhere people like us are allowed to glide the ranks to positions where we can make the difference... teachers should be amongst the highest paid workers in a country....
The headmaster at my senior school was so respected that even the staff called him Pig. He taught history, and was a big part of my decision to study geography instead (even though I hated geography)
I was a substitute teacher at a K-3 school for a year after I was downsized from my engineering job. Many of the kids were obviously starving for attention from older male "role models". I loved interacting with the kids but sucked as a teacher. Engineering is much easier than teaching.
I think more of everyone like him ❤️
In Texas MAGATs have defunded our public schools, made them unsafe due to the ongoing risk of mass shootings, and turned good teachers and administrators into villains with their anti DEI, anti LGBTQ, Xtian nationalist agenda. God help us!
Love and compassion is ALWAYS the answer.
By the end I got a bit misty-eyed.
I'm on my way to ugly crying.
More MEN like this please!!
My first principal in high school treated it like a prison and a business more than a school. Removed the mirrors in the bathrooms to "teach us a lesson", etc. Not very well liked. Second principal was a MUCH cooler dude, actively wanted to engage with kids and teach them on a personal level.
this could be the principal at the school i teach at. She's wonderful. Occasionally she takes a teacher's playground duty just so she can get out of her office and connect with the kids too. Best boss ever.
why do i feel like MAGAts would hate this man?
Because he seems to be genuine, a positive role model, not doing something to swindle others, oh and actually doing his job too…. All things foreign to MAGA.
Mahalo for this share George
It takes a government to spend tax money, as if they had real and human principles.
👍
I love this!
😂
I remember school head teachers (as we call them, or, used to, dunno if they too have americanised since I finished school 24 years ago!) being overly stern battleaxes, something you didn't want to be seen near to........ 😬
Bless him. In grade 4 I got an in day suspension because the principal said he saw me only talking to one person at recess and I didn't have "enough friends" I wish I were making that up
When I was an elementary student in the 70’s we never saw our principal ( a white man of course.) We were fearful of meeting the principal because that only happened if you were in trouble whether you did something bad or someone said you did. I’m loving the new generation of teachers and principals
Inspiring and inspired.
More 👏🏼 like 👏🏼 this! 👏🏼 School was not a safe place for me because of the adults, and it had an impact on me for a very long time. Their words are still in my head in my mid-40s. These kids will hear different words in their heads in their mid-40s. Kind ones. I'm so grateful for educators like him.
My son had a principal like this when he was in elementary school and it made all the difference. He used to come around to the classrooms and play banjo or guitar on Fridays. Stuff like that is what my son remembers even though he doesn't love school.
The science shows that if kids with a high number of Adverse Childhood Experiences have *one* safe and trusted adult in their lives, it cuts future risk factors by over 50%. One adult can have that much of an impact on a childs life 💜
And that principal still remembers my son's name.
That is the sweetest. We need more people like that.
Absolutely 💯
Indeed!😊
Principals with principles? What a model for civic leader with a broader reach.
