Type 2 might not be a choice, either. Many people have metabolism disorders, or other genetic problems that start to manifest either in childhood or later in life.

Many people also have repeated COVID infections, which is a massive risk factor for developing type 2 diabetes.

Even if someone makes all the right choices and has the resources to make the right choices, they could still be stuck with type 2 for most of their lives. Right choices might help, but wrong choices aren't always the cause, and sometimes people can't choose, or aren't in a position to choose. 2/2

That can happen at any age, most develop Type 1 as juveniles, I developed Type 1 age 58. Late onset is often misdiagnosed as Type 2.
