The character of Ron Swanson was the definition of an American libertarian. He is against social programs for both rich and poor but especially giving tax breaks to corporations. He would hate MAGA for the same reasons MAGA thinks they hate other people. He also hates war more than you realize.

That reminds me of a pundit assuming Michael Douglas’s character from Falling Down to be a probable Trump Voter. They evidently forgot about the scene where Douglas had to deal with a neo Nazi.

Have these people never watched Parks and Rec? Swanson would despise Trump and GOP, specifically the bullshit lies on being the party of small government. This would be his face reading every headline that we're forced to suffer with:

I can see Leslie getting excited about the president visiting, Ron saying something like "If I wanted to meet a bunch of pedophiles, I'd go to the local prison" And Leslie clarifying it's the President of a locally famous gardening club to present fresh ideas for plantscaping

An actual radical libertarian would despise Donald Trump because Donald Trump is trying to have the state take over everybody's lives.

I think he might be underestimating conservatives' love of rolling in the mud of hypocrisy. "...but Trump is antithetical to everything you want in government." "No he isn't." (delivered with a straight face, but inwardly laughing at the ensuing flabbergast) Maybe Ron's too authentic for that.

I like the idea that Ron would have no respect for Trump because he got into government, but the fact is Ron is a good person and Trump is pure evil. Ron would call him a clown and have nothing to do with Trump.
